When she was six years old, Susan Frith burst into tears during a class writing assignment. Then she sniffed her first byline, the faint fumes of blue mimeograph ink wafting up from the stapled sheets of her elementary-school newspaper, and thus she was lured into the treacherous life of storytelling.

Formerly an award-winning newspaper reporter and magazine writer, Frith now tries to tell the truth by making stuff up, looking for the heartbreak and beauty in the ordinary and weird. Her short fiction has appeared in numerous publications, including Cleaver, Emry's Online, Nashville Review, New Madrid, Sycamore Review, Zone 3, and The Best Mystery Stories of the Year.

Frith has toughened up since those tender, early days. As of this writing at least, she claims to be as well adjusted as some of her fictional characters. She lives in Orlando, Florida, with her husband, their dog, and more than a few embarrassing old photos of their two adult children.
